So far, this fire has destroyed 20 homes and firefighters are now concentrating on protecting the residential areas. Our plan for today, carnell high lands is our highest priority. We want to make this no longer a threat and make the community safe. Our next priority is down in the Los Padres National forest. Reporter more than 1600 homes are threatened so there are lots of concerned residents. 300 people have been evacuated and the red cross is helping them at a temporary shelter at carmel middle school. The spca is taking in displaced pets. There are no plans to close any part of highway 1. There are fire crews monitoring the fire, but it seems to be burning out as it travels close tore the ocean because it is being helped by the weather at least near the coast. I can only imagine the exhaustion the firefighters with the high temperatures and palo alto. They are a team down there in terms of just getting through. Weekend and temperatures beginning to slowly warm up yesterday and continuing away from the coast. Not much change on the coast, 40s, 50s and 60s, and cool at the coast, 51 at morgan hill, 55 at campbell, and statewide it looks quiet other than the fog, translating into the 60s and 70s by the water, 80s and low 90s inland. 6 01 am. We have a problem with caltrain, it hit a vehicle, and abandoned pickup truck on the tracks at the broadwayberlin game crossing, and no one was in the truck, and apparently the truck was disabled and the person got out and the train was unable to stop in time, and no one was injured. Caltrain says there are delays, and they are setting up a bus ridge, at least a 90 minute delay for the caltrain riders this morning due to the collision between the train and the pickup truck on the tracks.
