Meet sheds light on Alzheimer’s Disease 1114173 Muscat, Sept 20 - The Sultan Qaboos University Hospital, in collaboration with the Omani Association of Alzheimer’s Disease, organised the second national symposium to mark the World Alzheimer’s Day, which falls on Thursday (September 21). The hospital was represented by the Department of Behavioural Medicine. The symposium, held on Wednesday, was aimed at raising awareness about Alzheimer’s disease and the importance of a healthy lifestyle to prevent the disease. The meeting brought together a large group of specialists. Dr Hamed al Sinawi, Senior Consultant Psychiatrist at Sultan Qaboos University Hospital and chairman of Omani Alzheimer’s Society, dwelt on Alzheimer’s disease, its symptoms and the role of memory clinic in evaluating patients and providing therapeutic services.

By: Times News Service Muscat: More than 10 people have been injured in North Al Batinah Governorate due to damages caused by rains, the Director of Saham Hospital said on Wednesday. A statement issued online by Oman News Agency ( ONA ), said:”Hammoud bin Saeed A Fazari, Director of Saham Hospital, said that these damages resulted in the injury of 13 people, 7 of whom were transferred to Sohar Hospital due to fractures, while the necessary treatment and medical care was provided to the rest of the injured in Saham Hospital.” A number of wilayats and governorates of the Sultanate witnessed torrential rains, hail falling, rising sea waves on the coastal areas of the Sea of Oman, and active winds that led to the blowing of unstable objects and caused many damages to the private property of citizens.

Oman’s health ministry issues statement on citizen’s sight being affected post vaccination By: Times News Service Muscat: The Ministry of Health (MOH), has issued a detailed clarification on a video broadcast by a citizen who said that he started facing eyesight problems after receiving the Covid-19 vaccine. The Ministry said that the two were unrelated incidents. The MoH statement said, “The Ministry of Health has closely followed the video broadcast by a citizen describing his difficulty with sight after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.The aforementioned citizen had difficulty seeing after only two hours after taking the vaccine and he was examined by ophthalmologists at Sohar Hospital, as well as by haematologists and ophthalmologists at Sultan Qaboos University Hospital. He  underwent many tests that did not show a relationship between his health issue and the vaccine. He was further given an appointment to visit the Sultan Qaboos University Hospital.
