Charles B. Mills Sr., 84, of Logan Avenue, Tyrone, is running for mayor of Tyrone Borough on the Republican ballot.
Mills attended Indiana University and the Pa. Police Academy. He spent 31 years in the military and attained the rank of sergeant major. He was wounded twice, earned a Bronze Star, two Purple Hearts and the Vietnam Gallantry Cross. He served four tours in Vietnam.
Mills served as Chief of Police in Mount Alto with 17 years of experience. He was Chief of Police in Snyder Township for five years.
“Tyrone Borough has been struggling; it needs a complete change in the way things are handled,” Mills said. “I would like to be the voice for Tyrone residents.

One woman was injured in a two-vehicle crash that occurred Tuesday afternoon on North Main Street in Punxsutawney.
The Punxsy Spirit reports a woman was traveling north on Route 36 and failed to see another vehicle stopped ahead and struck it from behind.
She was taken to Punxsutawney Area Hospital by Jefferson County EMS for treatment of an unknown injury.
All three Punxsutawney fire companies were dispatched to the scene along with borough police.
Responders cleared the scene in about 15 minutes.
A Reynoldsville man was injured in a crash that shut down a portion of US 322 in Winslow Township of Jefferson County Friday afternoon.

A Brockway woman is facing charges following an incident where she allegedly pointed a gun at a man and threatened to shoot the tires out of his truck.
State Police in DuBois say the incident occurred at a location along Walburn Run Road and Palm Road in Snyder Township of Jefferson County on Feb. 12th when 60-year-old Mary Lou Smith reportedly pointed a gun at a 36-year-old Falls Creek man and allegedly stated she was going to shoot his truck tires out if he continued to drive his coal truck up and down the road.
