because it is that heavy and that challenging to shovel manually. get to my graphics, i want to show you what s the latest with the storm system. you are looking at what is called a water vapor imagery. you can see that counterclockwise motion with this low just meandering off the east coast and this thing is driving in very strong winds. so that heavy wet snow that i showed you a minute ago, it was accumulating on top of the trees and the power lines. so with the wind picking up, a ne northeasterly wind, the potential still exists for those power outages to increase through the course of the day today as winds will gust in excess of 50 miles per hour. the snow tapering off, that s not so much a concern, but double-check your flight as you head to the airports today because there could be some delays still as a ramification of this latest storm system to impact the east coast. incredible to see that both sides of the country being impact bid wild winter weather. it really is. as we l

now on administrate ifz leave. abc news, new york. now to the powerful nor easter winding down this morning after throwing a wrench in thanksgiving plans from north carolina to maine. power was knocked out to hundreds of thousands as the storm moved to vermont, new hampshire, and maine. crews are scrambling to restore electricity. it couldn t come at a worse time, dumping rain, snow, and sleet along the east coast. earlier in the day, icy roads west of the i-95 corridor caused one accident after another. backing up traffic for miles. and it was a nightmare at the airports. nearly 5,000 flights delayed and more than 700 canceled. as much fewer people trying to drive today, things are getting normal with snow tapering off. jim dickey had more on what s in store for today. happy thanksgiving. still tracking our nor easter that produced so much in the way
talk about jersey, 15 inches of snow, places like jersey. places in pennsylvania seeing over a foot snow. even in new york city, almost a foot of snow. here in boston itself, only about 5 inches. other places in massachusetts seeing those numbers right around that foot mark. so what happened, we have the clippers. remember, clippers only come from canada. they re driving and only drop 7 inches of snow. but this system, intersected with the ocean and the snow developed and that brought the moisture off the atlantic. it really enhanced snowfall amount today. today, the low is still there. it s pulling offshore. so that s a piece of good news. we are seeing the snow tapering off. last place being massachusetts and maybe new england. what are we talking about, several inches of snow. maybe 10:00 in the morning. we re starting to see this lift out of the area. blizzard warnings still out from the cape. they re getting battered out there from something we mentioned last time in boston just a
