Jam & Jelly, which features lyrics in both English and te reo Māori. ”All of our music has Pasifika elements, it’s a part of us, all of us,” said Caitlin Jenkins, another member of the band. ”It is refreshing to hear kids have talents put in their own culture into it, it’s not heard of,” she said. Jam & Jelly were not expecting to win the music competition “in the midst of Covid” as they were faced with many obstacles. In 2020, Smokefree Tangata Beats competition announced the move online a few weeks before the official date due to the pandemic.
