The next four horses that finished behind him – Papetu, Awesome Gerry, Pickin Time and Ultimate Badger – are also nominated to the Holy Bull.

While Nevada bookmakers were keeping up with
the comings and goings of points preps for the
2021 Kentucky Derby, they polarized
the extremes in their futures books.
Life Is Good is no longer the unanimous
favorite or co-favorite. Not after William Hill Nevada shortened Breeders’ Cup
Juvenile winner
Essential Quality to 7-1. He appears to be taking more action
than he is offering lately; his 3-year-old debut not expected until next month.
At the same time, Circa Sports is daring

Only a week removed from Life Is Good’s
winning 3-year-old debut and with Essential Quality still a month away from his, all
was quiet at the top of the Kentucky Derby futures market in the last week.
Bettors and bookmakers appear to be watching
and waiting for new prospects to show whether they will be legitimate
contenders for May 1 at Churchill Downs. Between Circa Sports and William Hill,
eight new horses not yet on the formal road to the Derby have been posted in Nevada since the start of the new year.

It was supposed to be moving day last weekend in Kentucky Derby futures betting. Life Is Good was expected to be the catalyst for a serious deck shuffle among the new 3-year-olds.
Instead, he was an unimpressive winner in the Grade 3 Sham Stakes at Santa Anita. He is still the consensus Derby favorite. But rather than plunging to unbackable odds here in Nevada, he might as well have taken the month off.
For a few hours Saturday, Circa shortened Life Is Good to + 850 before putting him back to + 950. William Hill Nevada kept him at 8-1, a co-favorite with Breeders’ Cup Juvenile winner Essential Quality. They came out of the weekend exactly where they went in.
