San Marcos CISD students expected back to in-person learning by mid-April

Thursday, April 1, 2021 San Marcos Consolidated ISD students are expected to return to their respective campuses, unless already medically exempt, beginning April 12.  SMCISD made the announcement in a letter to families Thursday. The district said it will maintain its COVID-19 protocols, including social and physical distancing, mask wearing, hand washing and sanitizing all areas of its schools. SMCISD will provide additional dividers and face covering at all of its campuses.  “Our main goal is to bring students back really just to check on them mentally, socially, academically, and also to prepare for next year,” said Andrew Fernandez, SMCISD Executive Director of Communications and Community Relations. “We know students are going to be back on our campuses come August. SMCISD teachers, staff receive COVID-19 vaccines following expanded eligibility

Thursday, March 4, 2021 Thursday’s reaction was all the same as San Marcos Consolidated ISD teachers and staff walked into San Marcos High School’s Performing Arts Center to receive their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine relief.  “I’m thrilled,” said Dyanna Eastwood, who is the head nurse at San Marcos High School and administered shots Thursday. “My daughter is a teacher and I’m thrilled that they can get that now. They need to. We need these kids back in school and we need the teachers and the kids to feel comfortable being here. It’s just a huge step.”
