Green Castle has been nationally recognized as a Smart Rural Community (SRC) by NTCA-The Rural Broadband Association and NEMR (Northeast Missouri Rural Telephone Company). Green Castle and the surrounding area have buried fiber optic cable, a must have for economic development, online education, telehealth, precision farming, working from home, and connecting rural America to the world. NEMR provides future-proof infrastructure. "Being on the cutting-edge of technology is good for the Co-Op and even better for our members," said Michele Gillespie, NEMR CEO. The city received a metal sign and certificate of recognition during the October city council meeting. For more information: https://www.ntca.org/smart-rural-community
