A bubble of hot air moving across Australia s west to east cost is forecast to bring temperatures even hotter than those experienced in summer to places in Sydney, Perth, Brisbane and Darwin.
Every state and territory, at least in part, is likely to face a heatwave in the coming days as scorching late summer weather bakes the country.

A severe heatwave warning has been issued for south-east Queensland with the mercury set to soar above the mid-30s over the weekend and overnight temperatures remaining in the 20s.
