In the initial phase, the skills development ministry plans to tie up with the private sector to impart training under corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes and scale it up with government funding, Ved Mani Tiwari, chief executive of the National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC), told ET.
The plan envisages skilling courses, international certification, pre-departure orientation training, soft skills, multi-cultural training and other support for overseas mobility through the 30-odd Skill India international Centres (SIICs) being set up across the country, a senior government official told ET.
According to an official from the Education and Skills Development ministry, the objective of the challenge is to encourage adolescents and young people to apply the skills and knowledge learned through the Adolescent Skills and Employability (ASE) Bhutan Project, Bhutan Live reported.
