At the crux of the indefinite strike proposed by the Road Transport Corporation employees, starting Wednesday, is the demand for salary revision, which the government says is impossible to meet at the present juncture.
Chief Secretary P. Ravi Kumar, speaking to media persons after a meeting on the issue with Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa on Tuesday, categorically said that “there was no question of treating RTC employees like other State government employees and implementing Sixth Pay Commission”.

Around 5,000 AIIMS nurses have been on an
indefinite strike since Monday afternoon in support of a number of demands, including lack of clarity of their salary structure under the Sixth Pay Commission. Despite requests from the administration to continue work in view of the Covid-19 situation, nurses have refused to relent.
AIIMS chief Prof Randeep Guleria had asked the nurses to desist from strike in view of Covid.

The indefinite nurses strike at Delhi s prestigious All-India Institute of Medical Sciences cannot continue, the High Court said today after the hospital sought legal help to end it. AIIMS which earlier appealed to the nurses to end their strike in view of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic contended that the strike was illegal and violated the Industrial Disputes Act. The hospital also asserted that the strike violated an earlier order of the court prohibiting any such action by AIIMS employees.
AIIMS had appealed to nurses to reconsider their strike in view of the COVID-19 situation.
The AIIMS nurses union, which has started an indefinite strike, today blamed the hospital authorities for the suffering of the patients. Stung by a widely circulated video of unattended patients inside a ward of the hospital, the striking nurses in a statement this afternoon, said the hospital authorities are putting the patients at risk with their plans to recruit nurses on contract who are unskilled and inexperienced .
Accusing the hospital of cruelty and negligent behavior , the nurses union said the plan was anti-labour as contractual employees always get low salaries.
