A popular Sobeys supermarket located at the corner of Dupont and Shaw Streets that was open 24 hours a day pre-pandemic is set to be replaced by a new mixed-use condo development, and an official revised Site Plan Approval application (SPA) was submitted to the city by developer Tridel at the end of 2020. The property, located at 840 Dupont St. just slightly east of Ossington, was originally slated to become a nine-storey development with office, retail, and residential space, as well as a second-floor grocery store to replace the current Sobeys, thanks to an approved settlement from The Ontario Municipal Board.

Apartment complex OK’d despite neighbors’ outcry The Ceres Planning Commission saw these renderings of the elevations of Putney Apartments proposed for 3420 Ninth Street and believe it will be an upgrade to the area. Some neighbors, however, see nothing but negatives. Despite the objections of some neighbors, the Ceres Planning Commission on Monday unanimously approved a proposal to build a 10-unit multi-family residential apartment project on a flag lot at 3420 Ninth Street in Ceres. The 0.64-acre site is located approximately 255 feet south of the Roeding Road/Ninth Street intersection. The site currently is occupied by a dilapidated home that will come down.
