Arijit Banerjee was dealing with the plea instituted touching upon incidents that have resulted in the death of four persons.
The allegations in the plea are that the incident was the result of police firing in the course of electioneering.
The Court took into account the submission s made by the Advocate General for the State and Additional Solicitor General for the CISF as well as Counsel for the Election Commission of India who stated that two FIRs have been lodged – one at the instance of an officer of the CISF and another at the instance of an individual.

Kolkata: The Election Commission of India on Friday announced to give compensation to the kin of the four Cooch Behar violence victims. Four villagers of Jor Patki village in Sitalkuchi were killed in the firing of the central forces in West Bengal and one person was killed by some unknown miscreants while coming out after casting vote.
The CISF personnel had opened fire after they allegedly came under attack from a group of villager at 126/5 in Jorpatki in Sitalkuchi Assembly constituency where polling was underway for the fourth phase of West Bengal election 2021 on April 10.

New Delhi, April 10 : Election Commission on Saturday adjourned polling at one booth in Sitalkurchi Assembly constituency under Cooch Behar district where four people were killed in the firing by the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) personnel.
Following the incident, the EC issued the order to adjourn the polls at Polling Station 126 of Sitalkurchi Assembly constituency. The poll panel s move followed the reports submitted by Special Observers.
A detailed report of the incident has been sought by the Chief Election Officer in West Bengal by 5 p.m. on Saturday.
