Gemma Arterton has claimed she is terrified of portraying the late music icon Dusty Springfield in a new biopic.
According to reports from The Mirror on Tuesday, the actress, 34, said she was also excited to take on the part in a film that explores the singer s struggles when her career hit a slump during the 1970s.
Of taking the part, she reflected: It won t be sort of like Bohemian Rhapsody or Rocket Man - it s not that kind of film. It s much more intimate. I am kind of a bit terrified by it but at the same time really excited.

BLACK Narcissus viewers were left horrified tonight after Sister Ruth plummeted to her death after fighting with Sister Clodagh.
The final episode of the three-part mini-series aired tonight, and saw the underlying tensions between the two nuns reach boiling point.

Sister Clodagh (Gemma Arterton) had tried to get her priest to take Sister Ruth home, claiming the new convent in the Himalayas that they had set up was making her unwell.

In a monastery halfway up the Himalayas, in the summer of 1946, a young Englishwoman pulled a gun on her married lover.
“It was a revolver, a big one, US army issue, and it was loaded,” Black Narcissus director Michael Powell would later write of his snow-capped showdown with paramour Kathleen Byron. “A naked woman and a loaded gun are persuasive objects, and I have always thought that I deserved congratulations for talking myself out of that one.”
The story may not be quite as scandalous as it initially sounds. Firstly, while Black Narcissus was set in craggier reaches of British India, it was actually filmed at Pinewood Studios, and at the West Sussex address of an Indian army retiree (whose garden contained geographically appropriate flora). And it is unclear whether the firearm was aimed at Powell during the shoot or afterwards.

Gemma Arteton has taken on the role of Sister Clodagh in the BBC’s version of Black Narcissus, which is out now and available to watch on BBC One.
Black Narcissus (2020) is a three part miniseries based on the 1939 book by Rumer Godden, and the 1947 film starring Deborah Kerr.
The nuns in the programme all have shaved heads which has led to some viewers wondering if Gemma had to shave her head in real life for the show. Read on to find out.
