All areas of construction have a role to play in delivering the government’s carbon net zero target by 2050. But how can an effective flood management strategy help the industry achieve this goal?
In 2019, the UK Government committed to bringing all greenhouse gas emissions to net zero within the next three decades.
As well as reducing or eliminating emissions completely, they can be balanced by schemes to offset the equivalent amount of greenhouse gases released into the atmosphere, such as planting trees or using technology like carbon capture and storage.
But differing definitions of net zero and inconsistencies in the approach to carbon reduction and offsetting, present a real challenge for the maintenance of existing and the delivery of new infrastructure.
