Shreveport Firefighter Dies From COVID Contracted On Duty
Shreveport Fire Chief Scott Wolverton has announced the line of duty death of a Shreveport Firefighter today.
In a release from the Shreveport Fire Department, and Mayor Adrian Perkins Office, Chief Wolverton says that 13-year Shreveport Fire veteran Leonard Coney had died from complications of COVID-19. The release says that this is a line of duty death, because Coney contracted COVID-19 after being exposed while on duty.
The release says Coney spent his career working with Medic 5, and Fire Station #5, on Stoner Ave. He joined the Shreveport Fire Department in August of 2007.
