During the remand hearing, police informed the court that they are also trying to trace the taxi and its driver, which was hired by the prime accused Shree Jogdhankar after he left the premises of Bhagwati Heights on Khar s 14th Road on New Year Eve. Police sources claimed that they have been trying to get the number of the taxi taken by Shree, whose statement will be recorded to corroborate the accused s movements.
Meanwhile, Shree s legal counsel, advocate Ganesh Gupta said that his client s custody is no longer required on substantial grounds. Shree complained in the court today that police has been forcing him to sign a statement on a blank paper, to which the court pulled them up. We have also argued to summon the doctor who discharged Shree from the hospital and ascertain if he was fit to be released or not, said Gupta.
Jhanvi Kukreja with her mom
MUMBAI: A forensic team that on Saturday carried out a reconstruction of the crime scene in connection with teenager Jhanvi Kukreja’s death is not convinced it was an accidental fall.
Kukreja (19) had been to Bhagwati Heights in Khar (W) for a New Year’s Eve party on the terrace with Shree Jogdhankar and Diya Padalkar. Her body was found on the ground floor with a skull fracture and multiple injuries.
Jogdhankar and Padalkar were present at Bhagwati Heights on Saturday, where verification of their statements was attempted through the reconstruction. The forensic team and police prepared a dummy of the same height and weight as Kukreja. What happened between the second and ground floors on the dimly-lit staircase has been a mystery as there were bloodstains all over but no cameras or witnesses.
Jhanvi Kukreja with her mom
MUMBAI: Police investigations in the murder case of teenager Jhanvi Kukreja at a New Year’s Eve party in Khar have revealed that Diya Padalkar, one of the two accused, had gone over to the host’s house after the incident, but did not mention a word about the incident to anyone. Padalkar had dinner at the home of host, Yash Ahuja, and went off to sleep. Later, Ahuja realised she was bleeding from the lip and helped her wash up. Padalkar then called up her father who took her to Hinduja Hospital. It was only later that one of the residents spotted Kukreja’s body on the ground floor and informed the Ahujas who summoned the police, senior officers said.
