Special Measures being taken to ensure socio-economic empowerment of Specially Abled persons: Dr Shehrish

Baramulla, July 06 (Scoop News)- Asserting that the district administration will explore every possibility to ensure the empowerment of specially abled persons, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr Syed Shehrish Asgar today remarked that special measures are being taken to realise the ambition of socio-economic empowerment of such persons. She said that Divyangs are the part and parcel of our society and every endeavor shall be taken so that they live their lives with dignity and honour. The DC made these remarks during a distribution camp which was organised by the Department of Social Welfare Baramulla in order to provide aid and appliances to the physically challenged persons. The distribution camp was organised as part of the special program which was inaugurated by the Hon'ble Lieutenant Governor of J&K with virtual participation of the functionaries of district administrations. Taj Mohiuddin A powerful face and three time lawmaker from Uri constituency of the erstwhile state assembly, Mohiuddin secured 9644 votes over his nearest rival Showkat Ali Khan. Khan who belonged to Sajjad Lone led J&K Peoples Conference secured 7923 votes. Mohiuddin, who had important portfolios as minister multiple times, lost the last assembly elections held in J&K in 2014. He was defeated by veteran National Conference leader Muhammad Shafi Uri.
