The Ocean County Prosecutors Office and Berkeley Township Police are investigating a Monday night shooting in Manitou Park that left a man with a bullet fragment in his face, Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer and Police Chief Karin DiMichele announced in a joint statement Tuesday.

The 29-year old victim was treated at Community Medical Center and later released.
As for the shooting, police responded to Third Avenue Manitou Park on Monday around 3:00 pm where they found the victim.
It s not known who fired the shots or why at this point.

Manchester Police responded to a residence on Yorktowne Parkway in Whiting around 3:45 pm Tuesday and found Jack Gotfried, 69, in the roadway with traumatic injuries to his lower extremities.

The message from MBPD comes amidst the latest car theft in New Jersey, this one in the borough in the middle of the night on Sunday morning.
In this instance, someone hopped in a black 2020 Range Rover in a driveway on Meadow Avenue and then drove off.
As Monmouth Beach Police and Detective Kevin Duerkes investigate this car theft alongside the New Jersey State Police, another vehicle theft came to their attention with possible ties to this case out of the Big Apple.
Police spotted the vehicle around 2:07 am and pursued it as it matches several vehicle thefts that have occurred recently in Monmouth County.
