Victim had bullet fragment in face following shooting in Berkeley

The Ocean County Prosecutors Office and Berkeley Township Police are investigating a Monday night shooting in Manitou Park that left a man with a bullet fragment in his face, Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer and Police Chief Karin DiMichele announced in a joint statement Tuesday. As for the shooting, police responded to Third Avenue Manitou Park on Monday around 3:00 pm where they found the victim. It s not known who fired the shots or why at this point. Monday afternoon Berkeley Township shooting under investigation

BERKELEY - Authorities are investigating a shooting that sent a man to the hospital Monday afternoon, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer and Berkeley Police Chief Karin DiMichele said.  Township police responded to a report of shots fired at a Third Avenue home about 3 p.m. yesterday, where they found the 29-year-old victim with a bullet fragment in his face, officials said.  He was treated for his injuries at Community Medical Center in Toms River and has since been released, according to authorities.          The incident is being investigated by the Ocean County Prosecutor s Office Major Crime Unit and detectives from the Berkeley Township Police Department.
