Menopause has a fair amount of stigma associated with it. Being the end of the reproductive age, it is seen by some as the ultimate sign of ageing, therefore many choose to hide this transition, pretend it s not happening, or sweep it under the rug. However, that is just one point of view. “The way I look at it is that this is also when women get a second chance at life,” says macrobiotic nutritionist, chef and author Shonali Sabherwal who is currently writing a book on menopause and is perimenopausal herself. For Sabherwal this is a transformational time because “We are finally in complete acceptance of ourselves and the world around us if we just change our perspective.”
