Mumbai, Apr 5 (PTI) The Shiv Sena (UBT) has accused the BJP of making the bow-and-arrow symbol disappear from many parts of Maharashtra after the saffron party started claiming the seats that were earlier contested by the undivided Shiv Sena.
The Congress on Wednesday expelled Maharashtra leader Sanjay Nirupam from the party for six years for indiscipline and making anti-party statements. Sanjay Nirupam Expelled: Congress Expels Maharashtra Leader for Six Years for Indiscipline, Making Anti-Party Statements.
Prakash Ambedkar was in talks with the MVA, comprising the Congress, the Nationalist Congress (Sharadchandra Pawar) and the Shiv Sena (UBT), for the Lok Sabha polls but recently announced candidates for 20 out of 48 seats.
The Mumbai South Central seat has also caused a heartburn within the Congress as the party was keen to field Mumbai Congress chief Varsha Gaikwad from the constituency. While Gaikwad has not come out against the Sena (UBT) decision, however, Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam, who was keen to contest from Mumbai North West, has given an ultimatum of a week to his party to resolve the issue or "else all options would be open".
