So we dont know what bills theyre going to bring up or what new ones they may add. Senator weiner has a bill, sb 1103, on bicycle yielding, similar to the legislation we have here in San Francisco where you can yield the rightofway. You can yield and dont have to come to a full stop. The joint ledge committee has been opposed to that and thats in suspense at the moment, so well see what happens there. Today is the first day of the legislative session. Next monday, the budget has to be submitted by the governor. One of the things ive added to my report is what the legislative calendar is by quarter to kind of levelset what needs to be done up in sacramento. The 12th is the last day for the policy committees to hear and report to the fiscal committees and vice versa on anything that came up in the odd numbered years, so thats in the regs
I am the Deputy Director of the Human Services agency for administration. And i guess id like to start off by talking about our process and where we are in the process and then we will go into the substance of this presentation. So, the department of aging and Adult Services is of course part of the Human Services agency. And the Human Services agency has within it a sort of a large support staff area. It does a number of things, but one of the things we do is we develop the budget for the agency, of course, we do that in cooperation with Shireen Mcspadden and Deputy Directors like cindy and joe, and Program Directors throughout the agency. And we do it with a budget staff and emily gibb and tiffany wong are two of the members who have worked on the daa is budget this year. We reach out to the Program Offices throughout the agency to ask them to identify areas of new need, changing regulation, changing law. Changes in the patterns of consumption of services. And then potentially innova

Theres no Science Behind it ak dhul there is. Actually there is a science. Based on the number of units we have turning over, we would have 300 pathway to housing beds. That would be the ideal number. That would be the right number because that matches up to everybody staying for 90 days and then you get housing. Supervisor cohen how are people selected to move into the Navigation Center . Flu a variety of ways. They are invitation only. And there is a couple of different ways people will get in. If the hot Team Identifies an individual who is a priority one client, they get prioritized for a Navigation Center bed because we want to get them off the streets. Ability is looking at issues of aging and all the values of the country and state and locale exercise with values into services and understanding of the way that people age and the kinds of services that they need. And so im wondering if you can just give us a short history of what the department of aging and Adult Services is here. Certainly. Thank you. So San Francisco has a long history of providing services for older adults and adults with disabilities. I think we are a leader in that. The department has been around for a long time. But it came together with a lot of services. Our Biggest Program is inhome supported services which provides homecare for 22,000 people in San Francisco. But we do a lot of other things as well. So the department is 17 years old . Yes. Although the city was providing services well below before that. So there are a lot of things in the horizon that are new. One of the things that is new is that deputy fund. She can talk a little bit about how it started.
