Almost two years after Google cut Huawei and its sub-brand Honor from some updates to the Android operating system, the latter has now joined hands with the search engine giant again. Honor has formally announced that it will launch its next line of devices with pre-installed Google applications.
Honor lost its access to the Android license, along with Huawei, in 2019, Gizmochina reported. On May 21, the Honor Germany Twitter account posted the update in German, while replying to a customer who asked if the Honor 50 series will finally launch with Google Mobile Services. Reports suggest that as the update talks about the Honor 50 are in German, the upcoming devices will mostly launch in Germany.

Honor is one of the major Chinese smartphone brands in the world. Established in 2013 as a Huawei subsidiary to take on online competitors, the brand sold products that were targeted at the younger generation and that cost less than those from its parent company. A necessary but painful separation
Last year, Huawei had to let go of its subsidiary to prevent the brand from figuratively sinking with it, no thanks to the sanctions by the United States. Purchased by Zhixin New Information Technology Co. Ltd which is a consortium of 30 agents and dealers of the Honor brand alongside Shenzhen Smart City Development Group Co. Ltd, Honor is now a separate business with no ties to Huawei. The advantage this move gives Honor is that it can get access to the supply chain and software services Huawei has been cut off from.
