Both districts will continue to be included in a U.S. Department of Agriculture program. As EVSC s Director of Food & Nutrition Nora Burgess explained in a video posted to EVSC social media accounts, the USDA waiver provides free meals to all students in participating school corporations, both breakfast and lunch, with no applications needed. The program began at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, in order to provide meals to students whose schools had been closed near the end of the 2019-2020 school year. The USDA program had previously been set to expire on June 30 but has been renewed for the coming school year.
