welcome back. the defense in the daniel willyam murder trial had presented their case. nathan was the more likely killer. he had the motive, they claimed, and a collection of weapons. daniel did not testify in his own defense, but he did speak to us, and he made a blockbuster accusation. with the conclusion of our story here s keith morrison. reporter: daniel willyam, on trial for murdering shelly nance, has a complaint about the way the world is. though he didn t testify, he wanted us to know something about him. and his concern that people young people especially lack courtesy. they re just too rude. like, for example, the young
welcome back. with their youngest child happily settled in school. they took off for a long over due vacation. when a day passed with no word if shelly. they worried. they called the school to check on her. and were told she was safe. then the next morning, the school called back. the nances worst nightmare was about to come true. she assured school officials her roommate was fine. shelly s parents couldn t shake the feeling something was horribly wrong. she went home she found her. and she wasn t all right. no, she was not. reporter: the school called shelley s parents yet again. we re on the highway and about 200 miles from our destination in the mountains. and phone reception was really bad.
wrong. i what would happen to shelly? she never goes anywhere. she stays in the room. she goes out when she has to. so, the next morning when she hasn t called. we both got worried. the first thing the next morning, she called the art institute. to find out if she was in class. and actually they well, they wouldn t go check on her. she has a break. then, they phone shelly s sister. i told her i was like stop worrying about it. she s 20 year-old. she doesn t want to talk to her mom. i didn t think anything bad would happen. i brushed it off. they kept driving. they were almost 1,000 miles from dallas. that s when the school called back. they sent somebody to the classroom. and she wasn t there.
