look, everybody told trump in the 2016 campaign he was going to lose. he couldn t win. the strategy wouldn t work. and he ends up president. i get the sense that that has internally given him license to ignore all advice after, because after all, he is president. yeah, i mean that only gets you so far. you can defy history only so often, and eventually your luck runs out. it happens to everybody. and it s going happen to the president eventually. we don t know when. this president has been really lucky. he hasn t encountered any sort of national disaster, sustained military operation abroad. the disasters that he has dealt with have been not unprecedented in scope. horrible but not unprecedented in scope. you mentioned puerto rico. his response to that has been duly criticized. you can t talk about disaster in puerto rico without him indulging his own ego, his wounded ego, and the exogenous crisis he faced so far is at the border. what did he do? he circumvented the process in
the use of the word boy. we won t even get into it. what is it? is it a delay, is it strategy on his part? he skipped a couple big democratic events. we can talk about why. the point is he s going into this democratic debate without what melissa was talking about. the fight that makes it sharper. that pressure that creates a diamond. leslie: i disagree. harris: who is giving him pressure? leslie: i think he knows and has pressure on that debate stage. he has had a lot of experience. harris: and he couldn t win when he had that experience, that s the point that chris was making. leslie: i don t know if it s the one on one, to his points. i think he wiped the floor with paul ryan and the vice presidential debate. he saved barack obama, who did terrible in mitt romney into debates back-to-back. it ll be interesting to see how he is on the stage with all these people. to the gaffes, not only do i think the bar has changed with regard to gaffes and what people forgive, but in ad
done and you re in court or in hearings. but at the same time, she knew she couldn t win, because the president says one thing, his credibility is shot, and then you also have michael cohen whose credibility is shot. and you don t know which way to turn. but you know, why have a briefing? because of transparency. people need to know what s going on. and the unfortunate thing, you see it unravel in realtime that she is the queen of dodgeball. and right, and perhaps, you know, she s hoping that the takeaway from this will be, why bother, so she doesn t have to do it again. no, the takeaway is, keep coming out, you know, and start giving us some answers. and john, on that point, she was also asked about the hush money payments. michael cohen has produced the check, multiple checks now, and some to congress and more to the new york times, that were from the president, reimbursing him for payments for stormy daniels. okay, we all know that s what they were for. the question poeses the m
strategist and ty master, great guys, both of you. let me start with you, colin. howard schultz said that about mike bloomberg, but doesn t it also show mike bloomberg came to the conclusion he couldn t win? it was an interesting analogy for him to draw. there is no room for centrists in the democratic party. it s why howard schultz, a life long democrat had to run as an independent because there was no room for him in the party. i think we d be kidding ourselves if we thought major bloomberg was not going to play an influence in this campaign season. he s just gonna do it on the outside. with his unlimited funds, he can have an impact. it will be interesting to see if my democratic friends decry the influence of so called dark money being spent on their behalf. dana: it depends on where you sit, i guess. this is what he said. until 20201 our only real hope for progress lies outside of
i benefit from it, but we have to get out of it. money is key. his ability to raise money from small donors and also watch what the independent expenditures do. once upon a time, people like newt gingrich couldn t hang on because he couldn t win, but money gets behind them. watch the outside groups and watch who they spend money on. it could pose a challenge for people who are trying to raise moan from small donors. nice suit, my friend. thank you. i can t compete. sorry. he put you to shame. the purple tie is nice, but he put you to shame. gentlemen, thank you very much. you both look great. big pharma gets grilled on the hill. one more thing is next. hill one more thing is next not this john smith. or this john smith. or any of the other hundreds of john smiths that are humana medicare advantage members. no, it s this john smith.
