A Rawalpindi anti-terrorism court (ATC) has awarded death sentence to three men over terrorist attacks, assault and possession of illicit weapons. The convicts have also been given long jails terms. They were involved in explosions at Adiala Road, Pir Wadhai, Saddar and Kabbari Bazaar areas of Rawalpindi. ATC Judge Shaukat Kamal Dar released the verdict on Friday after a trial. The court handed down death sentences on twelve counts and life imprisonment on 32 counts to the three accused over explosions. For other crimes, the convicts have also been given a total of 384 years in jail and fined Rs30m. According to the verdict, the victims families will be compensated usin.
RAWALPINDI: An antiterrorism court has sentenced a man to life in prison in a blasphemy case.
Accused Ibtisam Mustafa was handed down the life term for using derogatory remarks in respect of Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). He was also given 10-year imprisonment on two counts for deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings of Christians by insulting their religion and religious beliefs.
Judge Shaukat Kamal Dar of the ATC in Rawalpindi sentenced him to a total of 20 years in prison under Section 295-A of Pakistan Penal Code for deliberately “outraging the religious feeling of Christian citizen[s]” by committing contempt of Prophet Jesus, and life term under Section 295-C of the PPC of “uploading pages including words and insultive poem from book” to defile the sacred name of Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
RAWALPINDI: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) of Rawalpindi on Saturday awarded life imprisonment to two persons for kidnapping a 12-year-old boy for ransom.
ATC Judge Shaukat Kamal Dar convicted Allama Iqbal and Nauman Khan for kidnapping the boy Usman Khan from the vicinity of Naseer Abad police station.
The FIR was registered on the complaint of Usman Khan’s mother Aneesa Bibi.
She in the FIR said her son Usman went to the local market at 10am on December 16, last year but never returned.
According to the FIR, she received a call from the kidnappers for ransom. However, her son managed to return home.
Five awarded death sentence

Rawalpindi : The Additional District and Sessions Judge, Rawalpindi Farkhanda Arshad on Wednesday awarded death sentence to three men and lifetime imprisonment to fourth-one accused in a murder case. The court has also imposed fine of Rs800,000 on the accused and directed to pay the fine immediately.
The court awarded death sentence to three accused named Wajid Hussain, Mulazam Hussain and Muhammad Jameel and awarded lifetime imprisonment to accused Majid Hussain on charges of killing four people Ghulam Jilani, Ghulam Rasool, Altaf Hussain and Abdul Jabbar and injuring four others.
Kahuta Police Station registered the case under Section of 302 against four killers on murder charges in August 2014. The accused party opened fire on land dispute in which four people were killed at the spot while four were injured on the occasion. The killers fled from the scene on the occasion but police arrested them after some days.
