Dimapur, Nov. 22 (EMN): Nagaland Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), V Shashank Shekhar, encouraged the young voters to register themselves during the present ongoing e-roll summary revision and also exercise their right to vote during election. Shekhar stated this during an interactive meeting with various student bodies and young working professionals from Nagaland based in Delhi on November 21 at Nagaland House, New Delhi. In his keynote address, he highlighted the importance of young voters’ registration and participation with special emphasis on free and fair election, C-Vigil, etc. A press release from the Election department stated that the meeting was chaired by Sharon Longchari, joint chief electoral officer of Nagaland. It stated that the CEO also apprised that the Election Commission of India, during the recent CEO’s conference, highlighted that there are many students and young working professionals studying or working outside their respective states. Dimapur, Nov. 8 (EMN): In connection with the ensuing special summary revision of photo electoral roll with respect to January 1, 2023, as the qualifying date, a briefing with electoral roll observers (EROs) was held at the chief electoral officer’s office chamber in Kohima, on November 7. An update from the Election department informed that the chief electoral officer (CEO) of Nagaland, V Shashank Shekhar, has stressed on the importance of a healthy and error-free electoral rolls for conduct of elections, which is at the heart of democracy. Shekhar also highlighted on the recent amendments in the election laws, particularly the introduction of multiple qualifying days for enrolment in the electoral roll and collection of Aadhaar data from the electors on voluntary basis for linking and authentication of electoral rolls data.
