BlackRock, which holds a 1.61% stake in Top Glove Corp Bhd, voted against the election of six independent directors at the rubber glove maker s annual general meeting today, as it is of the view that the board had failed in its duty to mitigate the issues of migrant workers health and safety. KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 6): BlackRock, the world s largest asset manager that currently holds a 1.61% equity stake in Top Glove Corp Bhd, voted against the re-election of six independent directors at the rubber glove maker s annual general meeting today, as it holds the view that the board had failed in its oversight responsibility relating to its migrant workers health and safety. BlackRock also “intends to hold other incumbent directors not on the ballot at this AGM accountable, by voting against their re-election at future shareholder meetings”, it said in its Vote Bulletin released this evening. The six independent directors are Datuk Lim Han Boon, Datuk Noripah Kamso, Datuk Norma Mansor, Tan Sri Rainer Althoff, Sharmila Sekarajasekaran and Lim Andy.

Top Glove factories resume operations with reinforced health and safety SOPs

KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 6): Top Glove Corp Bhd said all of its 28 factories in Klang have resumed operations with stricter adherence to health and standard operating procedures (SOPs). In a statement, the world s largest glove manufacturer stated that since it obtained the green light from relevant authorities to reopen all of its factories in Klang, the company has placed the well-being of its workforce as top priority with reinforced health and safety measures to ensure that its life-saving gloves reach those who need them the most.
