Kpix 5s Christin Ayers reports a massive brush fire burned for several hours on Kimball Island in the delta. Reporter by evening, chopper 5 showed that the fire on Kimball Island had flared to several acres. Fueled by an overgrowth of tender dry brush burning as hot as it would have during the dry summer months. George watched from across the delta in antioch. Kind of spread bilger and a little bigger and eventually it was all the way down to the end of the island. Reporter three buildings burned and a handful of people on the sparsely populated island had to be evacuated as the fire formed a ring around a smattering of structures. But firefighters are still watching for hot spots this morning. The fire was out officially at about 9 30 last night. But check out some of this video shot yesterday. Three homes burned in this fire as well as several outbuildings and about 50 acres of land on Kimball Island, which is accessible only by boat. The fire was reported at about 2 30 yesterday afternoon. It started as a small brush fire but spread quickly because of the strong winds.
