The convicted men have been in custody since 2018 after their arrest for the offence. Their sentence will be deducted for the time they have spent in prison.
Surat: The Special Operation Group of city police busted a human trafficking racket on Saturday and rescued a 17-year-old minor who was brought here from Bangladesh to be pushed in flesh trade. Police arrested three Bangladesh nationals who are involved in the racket.
Police arrested Mijanur alias Shariful Shaikh, 36, his wife Ajmira Khatun, 32, and an agent Murtuza Shaikh, 31, for alleged involvement in the racket. The accused were nabbed from Kamrej.
“Police busted a human trafficking racket of and rescued a minor girl on Saturday. Police will investigate the involved criminals and try to find out if more such girls were pushed into prostitution by the same group,” said city police commissioner Ajay Tomar.
