Police today arrested another Indian citizen on charge of entering Bangladesh without proper documents and visiting the Padma bridge site in Shariatpur's Jajira late at night. "Some army personnel detained Rupsa Roy when he was roaming around in Padma Bridge project area in Jajira on today (June 26), without proper documents and handed him over to us," Mahbubur Rahman,
He said all water traffic was suspended due to Cyclone Yaas. But a trawler with 16 people on board started for Padma from Jajira s Palerchar to around 4:00pm to catch fish. The trawler sank in the middle of the Padma river due to strong currents, he said.
Local boats rescued 11 people alive. Among the 11, six were admitted to Jajira upazila health complex.
River police recovered a dead body after a rescue operation while four others remain missing till filing of this report.
SI Mridul said they conducted a rescue operation till 8:00pm last night and will resume in the morning today.
