Tonight is where the plot thickens. What will it take to give either Kamala Harris or Donald Trump that critical edge in the final 56 days . And what trump himself is telling our reporter in a Phone Call just this morning about the big showdown tonight. Plus, could the key to winning this election be as simple as getting a small slice of undecided moderate voters comfortable with your candidacy . Maybe not so simple. How do you do it . And who has got the edge . And both Harris And Trump will leave pennsylvania once the debate is done, but likely not for long. Ill talk to two mayors in cities in pennsylvania. We got a lot of experience in what it takes to win in this all important state. So, it is a very busy day, hello, im chris jansing, joined by my colleague Andrea Mitchell for our Special Coverage, msnbc reports debate day. This is the Spin Room. And we are just blocks from where the first and so far only president ial debate will be held tonight. And, chris, Donald Trump is expect
Hi, everyone. Dont you love that music. It is 4 00 in New York. The prosecutor versus the felon, the want to be autocrat versus the democrat. A candidate weighed down by incumbency in the eyes of the voters, a candidate who will be the oldest president in our history should he prevail. Versus the candidate of change from a much younger generation. Every contrast that defined the 2024 president ial election could very well be distilled in to 90 minutes on one of the biggest stages of this Campaign Season so far. With the mics muted and no audience with only the moderator as loued to ask the questions and two minutes to answer and two minutes for rebuttal, Vice President Kamala Harris will be up against a candidate who at this point is defined by his lies. As we reported before, he told more than 30,000 lies over the course of his presidency. Countless more since then. A candidate who has no problem spewing disinformation no matter the consequences, as long as it serves had im. Here is h
Speaking out for the first time. Why . This is not a normal election in any way. Certainly not one defined by policy debate. In one fell swoop, Donald Trump laid the groundwork to dispute the 2024 election just as did he in 2020. He threatened mass arrests of election officials, political opponents and critics and it landed like a Thunder Clap in the Saturday Night truth social post. It read in part, quote, when i win, those people that cheated will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Which will include longterm Prison Sentences so that this depravity of justice does not happen again. Please beware that this legal exposure extends to lawyers, political operatives, donors, illegal voters and corrupt election officials. Those involved in Inscrupulous Behavior will be sought out and caught and prosecuted at levels unfortunately never seen before in our country. And now you should know it includes a lot of nonsensical caps. A couple of long words that make me wonder who wrote i
And legendary strategist james carbo is standing by and he s coming up next. And another attempt from donald trump to jail his opponents. Michael tyler is going to join me with his reaction as well. And also today, andrew wiseman is here to talk about judge marchand s decision to delay trump s sentencing until after the election. What does it all mean. And later goldman on that department of justice indictment and at the center of it all. Okay, everyone, here we go. We re 58 days officially out from the election. We are two days out from the first debate between kamala harris and donald trump and as if we needed any more evidence of just how important that first face to face meeting could be, we got plenty more in just the past few hours this morning. A brand new poll out this morning shows the race virtually tied not a huge surprise. As we said many times on the show, national polls don t really matter. Battleground state numbers tell us a lot more than the state of the race than thos
