and so this is another step in a sham process that we knew was not going to be successful. but there is something good to look to here in terms of that the russians have said that their media, their state media, that they are not going to discuss any kind of swap or any kind of deal until the legal process had fully played out. and so if that is to be interpreted one way, you can see that it this appeal might actually allow that to move forward. ms. griner still has the option to continue to appeal and her lawyers could pursue that. but in some ways this is still advancing the process. and last time you and i spoke, you said that your office is in regular contact with the state department getting briefings on efforts to negotiate a solution with the russians. any change in that situation? well, we haven t received a serious count iter offer from the russians yet. but as i said, their position has been that they are not going
