Downing Street said today that British Prime Minister Boris Johnson canceled his April 25 visit to India due to the current coronavirus situation.
Mr Johnson will instead speak to Prime Minister Narendra Modi later this month to launch his plans for a future UK-India partnership, expected to take place in the year following their physical meeting.
“In light of the current coronavirus situation, Prime Minister Boris Johnson will not be able to visit India next week,” Downing Street said in a joint statement on behalf of the British and Indian governments.
“Instead, Prime Minister Modi and Johnson will speak later this month to agree and launch their ambitious plans for future partnerships between the UK and India. They will be in regular contact beyond this, and later this year I will wait to meet the person. ” The statement said.
