The State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Orlando Ikeokwo, who disclosed this to newsmen in Owerri, said that their arrest came after a gun battle with the security operatives at Amanato in Isu local government area of Imo. The police added that the bursting of their camp came as a result of the arrest of one of their members one Onyekachi Mmadufor, a native of Umuduruekwe Isu local government area, who assisted the police with the information in the arrest of others.

The Imo State Police Command has said that five members of IPOB/ESN who masterminded the murder of Sgt. Joseph Nwaka and other security operatives in the state had been arrested by the officers of the Command.
The Command added that the feat was achieved by the crime prevention and control strategies adopted by the Command under the leadership of CP Abutu Yaro, to rid Imo state of activities of the proscribed IPOB/ESN and other criminal elements.
The Commissioner of Police, Yaro, disclosed this through a statement issued in Owerri by the Police Command Public Relations Officer, Orlando Ikeokwu, on the arrest of one Onyekachi Mmadufor, a native of Umuduruekwe in Isu LGA of the state.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Orlando Ikeokwu, said that one AK47 rifle, four locally made guns and large quantities of marijuana, were recovered from them.
He gave the name of their leader as Onyeyekachi Maduforo, a native of Umudururkwe in Isu Local Government Council.
“As a follow-up, On 14th May, 2021, the Commissioner of Police deployed Anti – Kidnapping unit and other Tactical teams of the command to Amanato Isu LGA for the arrest of other gang members but were heavily engaged to a gun duel by the hoodlums (IPOB /ESN).
“The operatives successfully repelled and dislodged them.
