the democrats, by ben cardin on the sfwintelligence committee saying donald trump is just not taking the threat of russian interference seriously. they laid out a number of ways that he could take it seriously. what is the reaction from republicans on the hill, no republicans were part of this report. reporter: i think that for the most part, republicans don t necessarily want to touch this because it is so radioactive as regards the president of the united states, who is clearly hypersensitive to this. any republican that were to sign on to something like this is potentially putting themselves in the crosshairs and this clearly was an effort by one side, not the other. one thing, one trend i do think that is kind of winding its way through all of what we have been talking about today and all the stories we have been covering here is you have to remember when these investigations started in the house and senate intelligence committees, there was very real bipartisan concern about the
president, it s just more of that with this new iteration of the report being released. democrats bypassing republicans. senator feinstein doing this over the objections of the republicans, what will that do to the committee? reporter: well, honestly, today it looks as if it may have less impact than we initially thought. chuck grassley at first put out a statement yesterday expressing a certain degree of anger, but when reporters talked to him in the hallways today, he seems to tone that down a little bit and say look, we are going to continue to keep working on this, i have given democrats some interviews they wanted to have. there have been some questions about whether this move on feinstein s part might make it harder for the committee to convince witnesses to come in and testify in the course of this investigation, but grassley downplayed that, too, suggesting one person in particular they wanted to talk to is jared kushner. he suggested it s unlikely this will have any bearin
