California is expanding vaccine eligibility to all residents 16 and over beginning April 15, and hundreds of thousands of people will be scrambling to find appointments.
You may have heard finding an appointment can be tricky. While health care providers, pharmacies and counties are continually opening appointments daily, they go fast.

Horrible and unconscionable : Former Bay Area mayor arrested amid child sex abuse allegations

A former North Bay mayor was arrested Saturday amid allegations of child sex abuse.
Robert Jacob, who served as the mayor of the town of Sebastopol, is currently in jail in Sonoma County after police were tipped off at the end of last month to alleged sexual assaults involving a minor.
The former mayor was charged with five felony counts, including the distribution of child pornography, and a misdemeanor related to sexual assault crimes involving an individual under the age of 16. Jacob is currently being held without bail.

LATEST April 6, 10:15 a.m. The alleged attacker in an incident of anti-Asian racism that reportedly took place at a North Beach sports bar has been identified by the victim s mother as retired pro boxer Pat Lawlor.
Gino and Carlo owner Frank Rossi told SFGATE on Monday that Lawlor was a regular at the bar, but was otherwise unaffiliated with it. A report from the San Francisco Chronicle also confirmed Lawlor s identity. (SFGATE and the Chronicle are both owned by Hearst, but operate independently of one another.)
Series of widely felt earthquakes rattle Los Angeles Monday morning

Three earthquakes woke many across the Los Angeles area before sunrise Monday.
The first, a magnitude 3.3 quake, struck at 4:15 a.m. near Inglewood, a city in southwest Los Angeles County, according to the United States Geological Survey. This was quickly followed by a very small magnitude 2.5 aftershock near to where the initial quake struck. A larger magnitude 4.0 temblor hit at 4:44 a.m. in the same area.
The epicenters were about nine miles south of Los Angeles.
While there were no reports of any damage, the quakes were widely felt and nearly 5,000 people reported feeling the magnitude 4.0 shaker to the USGS.

A man wielding a machete broke up the robbery of his elderly Asian parents in Oakland on Monday afternoon.
Video of the incident was first tweeted by KGO s Dion Lim. One clip shows four individuals surrounding the couple on their front porch, riffling through their pockets, until the couple s adult son runs out of the house with a machete. In a second clip, the suspects can be seen jumping into their getaway vehicle and driving away. Lim said running the license plate resulted in no hits which may indicate the plate is fake.
