Former West Indies captain Sir Clive Lloyd, credited with moulding the great West Indies team of the late 1970s and 1980s, has sought to inspire the inexperienced squad on tour in Bangladesh with an open letter. The team is seen as a second-string rookie unit, made so by the decision of ten players - including Test captain Jason Holder and white-ball skipper Kieron Pollard - not to tour as a result of concerns over the threat of COVID-19.Sir Clive, who got his opportunity to debut in 1966 in India because of injury to batting stylist Seymour Nurse, used that tour as a launching pad for an illustrious career that saw him score 7 515 Test runs at an average of 46.67 in 110 matches with 19 centuries and 39 fifties. Lloyd also led the West Indies to back-to-back ICC World Cup triumphs in 1975 and 1979.
