Commonwealth Day is a national event in Seychelles: President issues message

The mid-ocean islands of the Seychelles marks its historical links with national events days. Its affiliation with France is marked through the La Francophonie celebrations, the links with Africa through its FetAfrik (Africa Day Celebrations), the links with India and China with its Seychelles-India Day Celebrations and the Seychelles-China Day Celebrations respectively, and with Great Britain with the Commonwealth Day Celebrations, before it celebrates the Seychelles of TODAY in the Kreol Festival (Creole Festival). To mark Commonwealth Day 2015, President James Michel of the Seychelles writes: “A Young Commonwealth” as the theme for 2015 is in recognition of the many young people who form part of the Commonwealth family.

Minister Zialor describes visit to inner islands as an eye-opener

Minister meets Avis Lesperance The Minister for Family, Youth and Sports, Marie-Celine Zialor, continued her series of familiarisation visits to La Digue and Praslin. She was accompanied by the principal secretary in the family department, Marie-Josée Bonne; principal secretary for youth and sports, Fabian Palmyre; the chief executive of the National Sports Council (NSC), Jean Larue and chief executive of the Seychelles National Youth Council (SNYC), Penny Belmont. The members of the National Assembly for Praslin and La Digue – Hon. Churchill Gill and Hon. Doyace Poris (Baie Ste Anne), Hon. Wavel Woodcock (Grand Anse), and Hon. Rocky Uranie (La Digue), also joined the delegation for the visits.
