and nursing homes are having to bring in sex educators. not only having sex in nursing homes but spreading stds? yes, talking to directors talking about bringing in sex educators to reteach these folks who haven t been out there what safe sex and what it means. how bad is it? what are the numbers? there are numbers that indicate that senior citizens having sex. i know we like to think or tend to think they don t but there are numbers that show that they are active. if you look at 57 to 64 range, 73% are sexually active. 65 to 74 about half. 75 to 85, 26%. so those numbers are pretty high. and there are numbers that show that they are not using condoms. and we know that they see it right there. 20% of men are using condoms, women, 24% of partners are using condoms and also numbers that show they are not getting screened for sexually
transmilted disease. 64% of men over 50 have not been screened. 69% of women haven t. these day, i think that younger people know they should get screened and should use condoms. the numbers pretty disturbing. they are. just because you re 70 doesn t mean you can t get an std. what s the message for baby boomers, i feel we should speak to them the way we speak to teenagers and give them a warning. that s what sex educators think when you were taught. in the early 50s and after 60s, there was no hiv. it was free love. right. you were safe doing free love. that s not the case now, you need to think about these thing, you need to be termsed and use condoms when entering into a new sexual relationship. that s the bottom line. i see the teenager, sitting mom and dad and grandma down. this is what you should do. maybe the teenagers and grandpa and gramdma should be together.
of backlash from that. a lot of these young women have been hurt and seeing their friends hurt and learning from experience that maybe the sexual economics in our country are off a little bit, and women and men, for that matter, should slow down. so there s probably a million reasons for it, and one of them definitely is education, but we are still sorely underserved when it comes to the education in the schools, and parents need to be the primary sex educators for their kids. i say we take the good news and run with it and use this to start a conversation with your own children. we ll do it it. thank you for joining us this morning. donald trump is giving more hints on a possible white house run. we re america s natural gas.
