SPD altering traffic around Blanton Drive during COVID-19 vaccinations

SEVIERVILLE — Sevierville Police are adjusting traffic flow on Blanton Drive on weekday afternoons to reduce congestion in the area while people are getting COVID-19 vaccinations at the Sevier County Health Department. Starting Thursday, Blanton Drive will be closed to thru traffic from 1 p.m. until 3:15 p.m., when parents pick up their children at Sevierville Primary. Patients who are going to the Sevier County Health Department during that time should use Middle Creek Road to access the department. The school will not be accessible during that time from Middle Creek, police said. Parents going to wait to pick up their children should enter the school from Veterans Boulevard and turn onto Blanton Drive from there.

Kodak paramedic suffers medical emergency

By Cindy Simpson KODAK — A Sevier County firefighter and paramedic suffered a massive brain stem bleed while on duty with the Sevier County Ambulance Service on Tuesday, Dec. 15. A GoFundMe account has been started for Daniel Harmon, who began feeling ill after returning from a call. It can be found at https://www.gofundme.com/f/local-ff-paramedic. “He just closed a call and was on his way back to the station and started experiencing a massive headache and started getting light headed and dizzy,” said Chris Heckman, a longtime friend who first worked with Harmon at Gatlinburg Fire Department. Harmon lost consciousness at the Kodak station due to the brain bleed, and Heckman said his ambulance partner immediately went to work on treating him.
