Amid lack of vaccine supplies and uncertainty over availability in the next few weeks, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced that vaccination centres for people above the age of 45 will remain closed for the fourth consecutive day.

Vaccination of the people above 45 years will not be conducted in Mumbai on Monday due to the shortage of vaccines, the city civic body said on Sunday.
Vaccination for the people in the age group of 18 to 44 years will continue at five centres in the megapolis, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said in a statement. Citizens in the 18-44 age group will be allowed in the vaccination centres based on the slots assigned to them after registration on CO-WIN application, it said. Due to the shortage of doses, vaccination for the people above 45 years will not be conducted on Monday, the BMC stated.
First day first shot for young adults
MUMBAI: The first day of the Covid-19 vaccination drive for the 18-44 age-group got off to a soft start in Maharashtra on Saturday, with 11,492 getting the shot in 26 districts. Of these, 992 recipients were from Mumbai.
The ‘token’ round (Maharashtra has been vaccinating around 3 lakh a day on an average before the vaccine stockout earlier in the week) was held because chief minister Uddhav Thackeray wanted the induction of the 18-44 age-group – the biggest section in the state with comprising 6.5 crore people into the vaccine drive to coincide with Maharashtra Day, the state’s foundation day, on May 1.
