The streaming service boasts tons of great documentaries, many of them centered on criminal activity. But for the purposes of this list, we ve limited the definition of the genre to focus exclusively on those all-consuming stories that drive you to marathon-viewing multiple, terrifying tales. You know, those whodunnits â or more often, those why d-they-do-its â that plunge you into a rabbit hole of armchair psychology, amateur sleuthing, and nonfiction nightmares.
Here are the 19 most gripping true crime projects, both series and films, now on HBO Max.
Front Row launch as limited-commercial destination for TNT, TBS, Max originals
As part of the WarnerMedia Upfront, the company announced the launch of Front Row, a limited-commercial destination for TNT and TBS original series, alongside shows that were originally made for HBO Max.
Among the Max originals included in the announced lineup is
Class Action Park, premiering later this year, in December. The feature-length documentary explores the legend and legacy behind a former New Jersey amusement park, Action Park. The film was produced and directed by Chris Charles Scott and Seth Porges.

Now, as vaccination rates are up and much of the country is experiencing something that feels like normalcy and hope, many (myself included) are in the mood for viewing that s a little more uplifting. Think less gruesome murders and more onion ring scandals and Blockbuster nostalgia.
As such, I ve gathered some of the must-watch documentaries from the last couple of years some of which you may have missed amid the pandemic that are the perfect antidote for too many true crime binges.

With many national chains reporting devastating losses quarter after quarter the country s three largest chains reported $1 billion worth of losses in Q3 many have begun to fear that the theater experience is lost for good.
But that doesn t mean movies are lost for good. In fact, it s quite the opposite: Americans are watching more than ever before. In April, a study found that the average American was streaming content (TV and movies) eight hours a day, and three out of four people reported watching more than they were in pre-COVID times.
