bad and when asked about obama s handling of the economy, 44% approved. 48% disapproved. and, you know, that just tells us right there that the economy is essentially e the cement is poured around the economy that s number one issue and what is really a big problem another white house and for democrats, that are running for re-election, is that there is a giant disconnect between their rhetoric and the reality that people are feeling and there is all the empirical and anecdotal evidence, that suggest people are anxious about the state of the economy and angry at the way washington responded. but, i think what you are seeing now is, the recovery it is not only a policy disaster in the fact that show cases the biggest mistake the democrats made which was the trillion dollar stimulus, but, it is a terrible political message to bring to people, that they are actually enduring a recovery when people just don t feel it out there. chris: juan. well i think a couple of things to say
what was the message that those tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands of people who came to watch you, what were they trying to tell our leaders? i don t know what they were trying to tell the leaders. i know what message that i think to get look, we don t have aerial photography here, shortly on the numbers but i can tell you it was the hundreds of thousands. let s be on the low end, 300,000 and maybe as high as 650,000, but there were hundreds of thousands. you don t get that many people to come to washington and stand there, and have that kind of a moment, without signs, without any political messages, for no reason, you don t do it because they are happy about things. that is what the politicians, the first message that you get. people aren t really happy with
president will give a tax break to everybody who makes less than 250 and it seems equitable and in terms of shuffling the deck, he has to be proactive and has to take control of the message as opposed to allowing people to say the bad economic numbers and the evidence the president doesn t hear about has been the message and that is his fault, he has not controlled the message on the economy. chris: we have to take a break. when we custom back, a milestone in iraq as the u.s. ends the combat role there. our panel discusses what we re leaving behind. right after the break. pú
now with the justice department. when you look at somebody, the black panthers and they stand at the doorway, african-americans who experience that themselves should be equal outraged. and, when you see that happening in a community and somebody is intimidating black voters, you should be equally outraged. those are the main principles. now chris: wait, wait, wait. let me ask you about that, though, because martin luther king was assassinated when he was advocating the economic bill of rights, guaranteeing everyone a job. and you may say, well that is not your civil rights movement but it was martin luther king s. well, i m not martin luther king, she d have to stand for martin luther king and let his word stand where they are. what i m talking about is and, look, chris, i didn t intentionally put it on 8/28. the message is about god and
fall and one as expected, mara will be the bush tax cuts. now, the democrats were preparing for a debate, in which they were going to talk about extending the bush tax cuts, for the middle class, and letting the tax cuts to the wealthy lapse and now the economy is so weak you are getting even democrats saying, maybe we ought to extend all the bush tax cuts, for at least a year or two. that s right and it might be the consensus which it doesn t give either side a very crisp message, the democrats were hoping to say, look, the republicans were really serious about doing something about the deficit they would at least let the lets the bush tax cuts for the highest earners expire and they have a problem and have a problem with the handful of democrats, like kent conrad and evan byah who are not for letting any tax cuts expire and will be a problem for them and i imagine a compromise and it will be a complicated debate and might be one debate that helps
