Chicago police officers involved in suburban Calumet City fatal shooting By STMW NEWS CALUMET CITY, Ill. - Chicago police officers were involved in a fatal shooting Tuesday afternoon in suburban Calumet City. The shooting happened in the 1600 block of South Sibley Boulevard, according to Chicago police. The officers involved in the shooting were assigned to the U.S. Marshals Service Great Lakes Regional Task Force and CPD’s Fugitive Apprehension Unit, police said. No officers were injured in the shooting, but the incident was fatal, according to police. Officials have not released any additional information on the fatality.

According to authorities, the man was confronted by police in the 1600 block of Sibley Boulevard on Tuesday. The man then pulled out a weapon, and members of the US Marshals Service Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force fired, striking him. The man was pronounced dead after the shooting. An officer suffered minor injuries, and was transported to a local hospital, according to police. According to the US Marshals Service, the suspect in the case was a fugitive with multiple warrants, including an arrest warrant for a murder in the city of Chicago, an attempted murder warrant in Calumet City, and a home invasion in suburban Cook County.
