New Delhi: The central government on Friday (May 14) said that it would provide about 1.92 crore COVID-19 vaccines doses free of cost to various states from May 16 to 31.
Out of the total, 1.62 crore will be Covishield doses, while 29.49 lakh will be Covaxin doses, the health ministry said.
The ministry informed that between May 1 and 15, Centre has provided more than 1.7 crore vaccine doses to the states. The basic objective behind informing the states and UTs in advance of the quantum of free vaccine doses to be made available from Government of India for 15 days is to ensure that they prepare effective plans for judicious and optimum utilisation of these free vaccine doses which are meant for the age group of 45 and above, and for healthcare and frontline workers, the ministry said.

NEW DELHI: The government panel, National Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (NTAGI) said those who recovered from Covid-19 should wait for six months before getting vaccinated.
The panel also recommended the gap between Covidshield doses be increased to 12-16 weeks.
While pregnant women may be offered the choice to take any Covid-19 vaccine while lactating women are eligible for jabs any time after childbirth.

New Delhi [India], May 13 (ANI): Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain on Thursday said that he has suggested to the Union Health Ministry that the Central government should float a single global tender instead of various states to purchase COVID-19 vaccines.
Addressing a press conference, the health minister said if states go to procure vaccines in the international market then it will be an insult for the country. I suggested the Health Ministry if the vaccine has to be purchased from foreign countries, then instead of different states floating different global tenders, the Centre should purchase these vaccines on behalf of the states, he said.

Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], May 8 (ANI): Following the Chhattisgarh High Court orders to the state government to immediately start vaccination drive for people falling in 18-45 years age group on Friday, state health minister T S Singh Deo said on Saturday that vaccination has been started for this age group.
The court has also granted liberty to continue inoculation of COVID vaccines to Antyodaya group, persons below poverty line (BPL) and above poverty line (APL) groups of people in one-third ratio till it finalises its vaccination policy.
