Closed for 379 days: 5 beloved Dallas-area restaurants and bars that finally reopened
After a long (and unwanted) hibernation, bars like Midnight Rambler and restaurants like Twisted Root are back in action.
You want to hear war stories about owning a restaurant during a pandemic? Rich Vana is reopening The Heritage Table in downtown Frisco in mid-April 2021. But not before he closed his beloved restaurant, launched a sandwich shop and closed the sandwich shop.(Tom Fox / Staff Photographer)
After “hemorrhaging money for a year” during the coronavirus pandemic, Dallas-Fort Worth restaurateurs like Rich Vana are finally feeling comfortable enough to reopen their businesses. The Heritage Table in downtown Frisco will re-emerge as a cautious copy of its former self, albeit a little war-torn.
Serious Pizza’s serious facelift: The late-night Deep Ellum restaurant is back

Serious Pizza Reopens in Deep Ellum
After a lengthy hiatus, the pizzeria will sling its New York-style slices deep into the night once again. It officially returns on Friday, February 26 with more space, better flow, and TV screens thanks to a full renovation. (Unfortunately, it looks like it’s wiped clean all of its divey edge.) On weekends, DJs will spin tunes from a booth suspended above the dining room. Serious Pizza commissioned artist Chris Campbell to hand paint murals reflecting Dallas arts and culture. The Seriously Large 30-inch New York-style pizza remains (you can’t remodel perfection). Delivery is forthcoming.
