NEW DELHI: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has attached properties worth Rs 281.42 crore of several NCR-based real estate companies, including that of former Indian Premier League (IPL) chairman Lalit Modi, in connection with a money laundering case wherein land was illegally acquired in Haryana with the alleged connivance of senior government functionaries and bureaucrats.
Several farmers and landowners have allegedly been cheated to the tune of about Rs 1,500 crore in the case, in which former Haryana Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda is one of the accused.

NEW DELHI: : In a Gurgaon land grab and money laundering case worth over Rs 1,500 crore, the ED on Tuesday attached properties worth over Rs 281 crore. The total attachment in the case, in which former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda is one of the accused, has crossed Rs 390 crore.
Three chargesheets have also been filed in the case so far. The land scam in Manesar, Gurgaon is related to an acquisition order issued by the Haryana government in 2005 when Hooda was CM. The notification was issued for acquisition of 912 acres for setting up a model industrial township in Manesar and villages in Gurgaon. “A large number of land owners, in haste, had to sell about 400 acres at throwaway price to private builders and thereby caused a wrongful loss of Rs 1,500 crore to the land owners,” an ED official said. The Enforcement Directorate has attached properties worth ₹281.42 crore of several accused persons and their associates in connection with the Gurugram land scam, in which a large number of villagers were forced to sell about 400 acres of land to private builders at throwaway prices.
The attached assets include 54% of a project in the name of Dove Infrastructure Private Limited pertaining to the main accused, Atul Bansal, and the ABWIL Group companies, worth ₹108.86 crore; and 50% of one “Business Bay Project” in the name of Seriatim Land and Housing Private Limited valued at ₹78.09 crore.
